There is relaxing, and then there is having someone scrub approximately the last 100 years off your body.

I went to 88 Skin Scrub Spa in Red Bank, and let me tell you right now: this was not a cute little “put a cucumber on your face and pretend you are calm” situation.

This was a full Korean body scrub experience — steam, sauna, exfoliation, massage, the whole reset. And it was fantastic.

Service was phenomenal. The place is brand new. And if you are the kind of person who likes feeling insanely clean, relaxed and somehow newly installed into your own skin, you are going to understand why I am excited about this one.

So what is a Korean body scrub?

If you have never done it, here is the simple version.

You warm up first — steam room, sauna, that kind of thing — and then you get an actual scrub treatment designed to exfoliate dead skin. Not “I used a loofah in the shower and called it self-care.” A real scrub.

It is intense in the best way. Relaxing, yes. Invigorating, absolutely. But also very much a where has this been all my life? experience.

After the scrub, the service includes massage, so you do not just leave feeling clean. You leave feeling lighter, smoother and completely reset.

The scrub is the main event

This is the part I want to get right, because it is hard to explain until you actually do it.

The treatment is not precious. It is not fussy. It is very direct, very thorough and honestly outrageous in the best possible way. You know when something feels like an actual tradition instead of some trendy spa add-on somebody invented last Tuesday? That is the vibe.

88 Skin Scrub Spa describes it as an authentic Korean body scrub experience, delivered by people who have been doing this a very long time — and it shows. Everything about the service feels polished, precise and practiced, which makes a lot of sense once you are actually on the table.

This is not a place trying to figure out what it wants to be. It knows.

Singles, couples, and a very good excuse to book something different

You can book as a single, and they also offer a couple/duo Korean Body Scrub & Massage experience.

The couple/duo service is 90 minutes: a 60-minute Korean body scrub with sauna or steam room treatment, followed by a 30-minute relaxation massage. Their booking page says the duo appointment requires two staff members at the same time, so you call to book that one.

Translation: if you want to go with your husband, best friend, sister or the person who keeps saying “we should do something different,” this is the thing.

It is relaxing enough for a spa day, but different enough that you will actually talk about it after.

Jennifer’s verdict

I really cannot recommend my experience highly enough.

The service was phenomenal. The treatment was relaxing and invigorating at the same time. My skin felt ridiculous afterward. And the whole experience felt like something our readers would genuinely love — especially if you appreciate a place that is clean, professional, calming and not trying too hard.

Brand-new businesses need people to give them a shot. This one deserves it.

Go try it. Seriously. I am excited about it.
