Red Bank has a brand-new permanent jewelry spot, and honestly, this one understood the assignment.

Linked by Mint just celebrated the grand opening of its second location at 29 Monmouth Street. The first is in Pier Village in Long Branch. This new space is bright, polished and feminine without feeling precious — and there is an entire room set up for private parties.

Translation: girls’ night has a new address.

First: what exactly is permanent jewelry?

If you have somehow missed this trend, permanent jewelry is a bracelet, anklet, necklace or hand chain without a traditional clasp. You choose the chain, have it fitted, and the tiny jump ring is welded closed. The process is quick, and then the piece stays with you through regular life until you decide to remove it.

And no, “permanent” does not mean you have signed a lifetime contract with a bracelet. If you need or want to take it off, you cut the small ring with scissors or jewelry cutters.

The fun is making it personal. You can keep the chain simple and dainty, add charms that actually mean something, or build a piece with your best friend, daughter, sister or somebody special. It is jewelry, but it is also a memory you leave wearing.

The charm bar is where the decisions get serious

The displays are loaded with chains and charms — hearts, initials, little symbols, mixed metals and all the tiny details that turn “I’ll just look” into a forty-minute design consultation with yourself.

You can make a charm bracelet feel playful, keep a necklace clean, or go for a hand chain, which might be the prettiest option in the room. It is delicate, a little unexpected and exactly the kind of thing people notice without it screaming for attention.

And because there are so many ways to build a piece, it does not feel like everybody is walking out with the same bracelet. Yours can mark a friendship, a birthday, a trip, a new chapter — or absolutely nothing deeper than “I liked this charm.” That is also allowed.

This place was built for a girls’ night

The private-party room is the part that turns Linked by Mint from a quick appointment into an actual plan. Long tables, soft flowers, candles, comfortable chairs — it looks like somebody designed a dinner party and then added jewelry.

Bring your friends. Bring your daughters. Make it a birthday, a bridal get-together, a mother-daughter afternoon or just the rare night when everybody manages to agree on a date.

You leave with something pretty, but the real point is doing it together. A matching bracelet with your best friend is always going to mean more than another thing you ordered alone from your couch at 11:30 at night.

Jennifer’s verdict

I love that this is personal without being stuffy. You choose what fits you, you make it your own, and you walk out wearing the memory.

The Red Bank studio is beautiful. The charm selection is fun. The party room gives you a reason to gather people you actually want to spend time with. And the whole permanent-jewelry experience feels special without requiring a giant occasion.

Go with your bestie, your daughter, your sister or the friend who always talks you into one more charm. Just do not blame me when one bracelet becomes a stack.
