Worth the Cheat
Two people, one fork each, telling the truth about the food worth breaking the rules for.
By Harry & Jennifer
We're Harry and Jennifer. Two people who love a great meal, a cold drink, and the occasional rule worth breaking. One of us has eaten dishes cooked personally by legends like Frédy Girardet, André Soltner, and David Bouley. The other is Jennifer — a growing foodie who still checks the menu for something that doesn't sound like it has tentacles.
Together, we order the thing we're not supposed to. The bread basket. The pasta. The dessert that could feed a family of four. Then we tell you exactly whether it was worth the cheat — or a waste of the calories.
Why we do this
I've been lucky. In my life, three of the world's greatest chefs — Frédy Girardet of Chez Girardet in Crissier, André Soltner of Lutèce in New York, and David Bouley of Bouley in Tribeca — cooked meals for me personally, in their prime. That kind of experience rewires your palate. You learn what greatness actually tastes like.
Jennifer? She's on the journey. She trusts a good recommendation, she knows what she likes, and she's not afraid to say when something is overhyped. She's the reason this isn't just a food snob's diary. She's the sanity check.
Worth the Cheat is our running list — the dishes that made us stop mid-bite, the ones that weren't worth the hype, and the cheats we'd order again in a heartbeat. No PR fluff. No sponsored nonsense. Just two people, one fork each, telling the truth.
