Your result
Your savings run short at age 92.
- Most you could spend each year to age 95
- $76,300
- in today's dollars, about $6,358/month
- First-year withdrawal rate
- 8.5%
- Above the 3.3%–4% range most research calls sustainable.
Savings shown in today's dollars. This uses steady average returns, which real markets never deliver, so treat it as a starting point, not a promise. Before Social Security starts, your savings cover all of your spending.
How this calculator works
Each year, your spending and Social Security rise with inflation. Your savings pay the difference, plus tax on what you withdraw. Whatever's left grows at your chosen return.
The stress test drops your savings 15% in each of your first two retired years. That's the "sequence risk" that does the most damage, because you're selling while prices are down.
Real markets don't move in a straight line, so treat the result as a range, not a promise. Rerun it every year.
